UPDATE 4/11/05 Sebastian and Dino were adopted by their foster parents, and here is an update: "After a brave battle with cancer, little Dino passed away about eight months ago. A necropsy showed that his little body was just riddled with it, so he had fought the fast-spreading disease valiantly. While we were all heartbroken by the tragic and sudden loss, little Sebastian, Dino's lifelong best friend, was simply devastated. Sebastian cried and cried for days, calling for his friend to come back to him. When we brought Mac (another Mickaboo foster bird) home, Sebastian and Mac showed an immediate and very strong bond. Sebastian stopped crying for Dino, and Mac had finally found a best friend of his own. The two little ones became fast friends and have been inseparable ever since!" Lookiní for two lovable lads? Then weíre the two for you! Weíre Sebastian and Dino, two male cockatiels. Dinoís the handsome cinnamon pied, and Iím the baby-faced normal grey. In our old house, we were accused of ëbitingí and of being a ëdanger to the childrení. Of course, we also had a nest box in our cage that we were busy playing house in. The nest box brought out all our cockatiel good-parentingíinstincts, so weíd hiss when humans walked by. Why? ëCuz we were protecting our nest! Of course the first thing to go once we reached our foster home was the nest box. And guess what? That same first day in foster care, Dino and I came out through the open door of our cage and walked right up to preen our foster momís hair! No blood was shed, just lots of kisses shared. And weíve been making progress ever since! We donít step up yet, but we mimic all sorts of beautiful and melodic songbird calls, and we both do a little ëyipí that sounds just like Dino from the Flintstones. I (Sebastian) have crippled feet, which my vet thinks Iíve probably had since I hatched, likely due to a vitamin deficiency. So if youíre looking for two spectacular diamonds in the rough, give Mickaboo a call today! Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
