Hi! The name my first human friend gave me was "Cubby" but my foster (and prospective adoptive) parents call me "QT". I am sure it's because they think I am such a cutie - aren't they clever? I lived in my first home for about 5 years, until my human friend went away to college. The rest of the family was not really into birds so I came to Mickaboo to find a really good new home. The place where I am staying now gets five stars! I get to eat REALLY well - including pellets, veggies, fruit, some nuts, a little cockatoo mix and Avicakes. I also get sweet potatoes, yams, rutabaga, turnips, polenta and sometimes a little scrambled egg to help stick all that together. And I really like that stuff served warm! My 'house' has lots of toys. I solve my 'puzzle' toys quickly (I am a very quick learner and foraging is fun). I am out about 4-6 hours on most days (sometimes more). When I am out, I have the run of the house (supervised, of course) but I spend most of my time with my human family, staying close by. We cockatoos are very social, demanding lots of attention and I am no exception. I like to get gentle head and neck rubs. However, I am still independent. Naturally, I do all the usual cockatoo greeting and bonding things including lots of cockatoo talk. I try not to be too loud, but sometimes I really get enthusiastic and make lots of noise. I also 'dance' a little bit...bouncing up and down and side to side...which is fun for people and (they assume) for me as well. I'm having lots of fun and I'm very happy to be part of my new family. Notice: Due to the notoriously difficult nature of cockatoos, Mickaboo prefers that cockatoos not be a households' first parrot.
