UPDATE: BJ makes friends with other cockatiels very easily. He is a little less sure about spending time with people. BJ would be a very nice addition to a household that already has one or more cockatiels. He would do a nice job of keeping a cockatiel friend company while he gets to know the people in the family. I'm a 6-year-old cockatiel named B.J., formerly called Pretty Bird. I know that sounds sweet, but I'd just as soon forget parts of my earlier life. My previous owners dumped me into a shelter, saying they could no longer care for me...not that they had any specific complaints. In fact, they said I didn't even bite. I don't get it. I was on a seed-only diet, so how much trouble could I have been? Thanks to my emergency foster mom, I have a new name and a new beginning. I had a hard time for a while after being left at the shelter. For nearly a week and half, I was too depressed to eat on my own. I guess I had given up on life. Tube feeding kept my weight up, and now I'm eating again. I'm in a wonderful foster home with people who are helping me to be less timid and learn to eat a more varied diet. Life is worth living again. All I need now is a family who will love and keep me forever! Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
