UPDATE 4/4/06: Well, we've settled into the new digs and have finished unpacking, so we thought this would be a good time to let you all know how things are going for me and Macy. The new owners are okay, if you like humans. They have another bird, (a cockatiel, thank goodness), but she is the show-offiest thing I've ever seen. She's actually kinda okay - shares her food with us (even the broccolini which we really like!), and has started following us around when we go on walkabouts. Can you blame her though, really? After all, we are the cutest walkers in California. We like to hide under something when the humans come by, unless they have food or they manage to pick one of us up, in which case the other follows the human around. Not much more to say, I guess. Good food, good sleepies, no cats or dogs around?.life is good! Tweets, Marty and Macy We are Macy and Marty, a pair of "shelter birds" without a lot of background information. Luckily, all you need to do is to look at our photo to see that we are a handsome cockatiel duo. Look closer and you'll know we are very young, maybe not quite a year. For some unknown reason, we had a severe clip of both our wings and tails, but feathers grow back. When our plumage is back in its full glory, we will take good care of it because we love to bathe. Sometimes we squabble over who gets the bath (our water dish) first. Despite those occasional spats, we are very strongly bonded to each other. With people, we are rather shy and timid still. Hands are a little scary but we enjoy riding on a friendly shoulder (as long as we can stay together). We will even go "walk about" and explore on our own if you're not careful. We have toys in our cage and I, Macy, enjoy playing with them. Marty would rather vocalize than play with toys so far. He used to whistle some tunes but hasn't been very musical lately. Our diet is improving as we learn to enjoy pellets and cooked mixes. Our foster mom is teaching us that our food will be served when the dinner whistle blows. We are so young, we can learn all sorts of things. Would you like to teach us how to be your best friends? Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
