Update 5/7/06: "As far as I am concerned, Connor is the perfect parrot. He says ""Hello there!" and "Good morning!". He is so tame with me that I can completely encircle him with both hands, turn him upside down and scratch his belly. He bathes on his own, loves to eat at our table, and travel in his special travel cage. For the most part he loves to be petted and kissed, and even when he squawks objections, he never bites the way he used to. He has learned to shake claws on command, and I am teaching him to roll over. He is totally content to spend time with me, and I think he is as entertaining as a dog with a lot less poop! I never imagined a bird could be so gentle and loving towards a person. He squawks when I leave the room, but settles quickly. His affection and quick learning amaze Carol. He has become integral to our family, and I adore him. Connor is now part of our family, and a beautiful lively addition to our lives." My name is Grendel, and I'm a baby cherry-headed conure from the Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill flock. I hooked up with the folks at Mickaboo after flying into a window and bruising my beak. I was disoriented and scared, but quickly recovered after some medicine and TLC. My foster parents say I'm a "real conure," meaning that I have both the loud voice and the bright and inquisitive personality that makes us such great pets. I love to hang out with people, I chew on anything I can get my beak on, and I'm also learning to talk. You can see by my photo that I'm even starting to grow in my red feathers! Can you find it in your heart to love a little fireball like me? Give me a loving home, and I'll squawk my way right into your heart." Print this page |
