Hi! I'm Stevie, the gray on the left. Since I'm more talkative, I'll tell our story! We had a wonderful home with a great mom who developed an allergy to us (and asthma as well). We were all very sad, but she was smart enough to be sure that we came here to Mickaboo so that we could have the best second home possible. I'm 12 years old and my pal Simpson (as in Bart--see the hair?!) is 13-- we're in the prime of our lives! Simpson has a little plucking issue going on, but we're checking into that; both he and I are now eating plenty of pellets in addition to our daily treats and greens. We're good eaters and we sing, and sing, and click, and dance, too--well, I especially like to swing back and forth as I sing, so my foster mom thinks of me as Stevie Wonder. Sometimes I make sounds as if I'm trying to talk--my foster mom just can't quite make out the words. We're trying out a stay in separate cages for a while, in case it helps with Simpson's plucking; but even if we live in separate quarters, we want to stay together! We're not so sure about human hands just yet; our foster mom is working with us on the issue and training us to step up and come out of our safe cages, hopefully. We would love to learn to trust your hands--we will trust you with our hearts in return! And we come with big benefits: lots of food to start, a big cage and a roll of craft paper to help with cage upkeep--what a deal! Story posted on: January 18, 2006 Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
