UPDATE 7/24/06: Sadly, Mickey died, leaving Peri alone. Since budgies are very social birds, Peri will be lonely by himself. Mickaboo will find a friend and companion for Peri, perhaps to join him in his foster home, or perhaps to live with in a forever home. If you have a lonely budgie to keep Peri company, or if you would like to adopt Peri and another Mickaboo budgie, send us an email. UPDATE 9/27/05: "Peri and Mickey are both doing well in their foster home and they are happy in their more spacious cage. They do come out of the cage on their own terms though, and their favorite thing to do is to run around on the floor and perch under chairs, magazine racks, etc.. They won't stay on top of a cage or other designated bird area. They are fully converted to pellets but they get a lot of treat seed as well. Both are afraid of hands, but Peri (blue guy) is a little more calm than Mickey around humans." What is blue and white and fun all over? We are! We are Peri (blue) and Mickey (white), two cute, very young little budgies. Our previous owner traveled a lot and realized we needed a better home. That means a home without little children's fingers poking at us in our cage. That kind of teasing especially bothered Mickey, making her a bit antisocial. It also didn't help that we shared the home with a bossy, scary conure. Between the wiggling fingers and the nipping conure, Mickey and I decided we preferred to stay in our cage. But, hey, we aren't even a year old yet, so we look forward to learning to explore again. We are learning about new foods already. Of course we love our millet and other seeds, but we also eat fresh broccoli and greens, and our foster mom is introducing us to all sorts of new edibles. (At least, she keeps telling us they are edible.) Maybe you would like to invite Mickey and me to dine with you? And maybe you would like one more riddle: When does 2 plus 1 equal infinity ? When 2 best friend budgies are adopted by one person who also becomes our best friend, creating infinite companionship! Story posted on: February 28, 2005 Notice: Due to the highly social nature of parakeets, unless a household currently includes a parakeet, Mickaboo generally requires that a minimum of two parakeets be adopted.
