UPDATE: "Bethany?s doing great!! She has been fully converted from an all seed diet to a Harrison's pellet/table food /white proso millet diet. She is in a large cage with three other females and one blind male, so basically she is part of his harem! She has adjusted well to the one tiny wing and seems very happy." I'm a cockatiel with a beautiful name (Bethany) given to me for inspiration. I'm named for the girl who lost her arm to a shark while surfing in Hawaii. The important part of the story is that the human Bethany is surfing again. I came to Mickaboo with an untreated wing fracture that had become badly abscessed. Most of my wing had to be amputated. After eight weeks of recovery and bandage changes, I am as good as new. My cage has low perches -- and three other cockatiels for company. I'm a happy, healthy, beautiful bird who won't let the loss of a wing keep me from enjoying life. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
