UPDATE 3/28/2006- "Stooks is a quiet girl until we leave the room or don't pay endless attention to her. When she's not with her humans, she hangs out with her budgie friend Peeps. When one of them hits the bath, the other soon follows. When one decides to have an adventure and check out a new wrinkle in the bedspread both most go on the adventure together. She likes greens and nibbles on various fruits and is the sloppiest eater of all the cockatiels I've ever met. She spreads anything she eats near and far. She definitely was a youngen when we got her and she's been losing a speckled feather every so often. And she's getting a slightly yellower chest. We'll see what the final version is pretty soon. She's just a real sweetheart." I'm a pretty lucky bird ... or should I say pretty AND lucky. I'm Stooky, a pied cockatiel. Something unlucky happened that caused me to be out in the wild world, but a lot of lucky things happened, too. First, I must have belonged to someone who treated me well because I like people. Second, I was very lucky to be found in a garden and brought inside. Third, I was lucky because I became a Mickaboo foster bird. I've been enjoying eating plenty of seeds and pellets, together with bites of apple and tiny nibbles of greens. I love showers and will try to bathe if offered a dish. My bathing skills need a little work, as I don't get anything but my feet and face very wet. Getting sprinkled is more fun anyway. My stepping up skills are improving daily. At first, when I saw a finger coming my way, I did the natural thing -- put my head down for a good scratch. I still love head scratches, but now I know I'm expected to step onto those offered fingers. My favorite thing is riding around on a person's shoulder. When I can do that, I'm a quite, sweet little 'tiel. The day I'm adopted could be a very lucky day for me and for that special person. Notice: Cockatiels are flock animals, and most of them are much happier when they live with at least one other cockatiel! Because of this, unless a household currently includes another cockatiel, Mickaboo usually requires that a minimum of two cockatiels be adopted. Print this page |
