Lovebird foster parents agree...

We Adore Our Lovebirds!

  • Lovebirds have a zest for life, with big bird personalities in small packages.
  • Outfitted in beautiful colors, they rate at the very top of the cuteness scale.
  • Their non-stop activity keeps us laughing.
  • They’re opinionated and funny – like having your own personal soap opera, except cuter.
  • Musical cheeping fills our homes with cheer.
  • Always curious, these little birds like to be near the center of activity, “chatting” with their humans.
  • Lovebird pairs like to be near us, but are rarely shoulder birds. They prefer hanging out with their Lovebird buddies, and don't need much dedicated time and attention from humans.
  • When tame, single lovebirds can be sweet little shoulder birds. Singles require more attention from their humans because they see you as their mates!
  • Usually ravenous, so easy to feed.
  • You’ll never need a 'paper shredder' if you have lovebirds around.
  • And finally, when in pairs, we think they're perfect birds for people with busy lives.

Reiley here, ready for some R&R. Im a precious Peach-face Lovebird whos really had a hard time of it lately. In fact, just between you, me and the medical equipment, right now things are pretty touch-and-go. See, I was a stray bird who was attacked by a cat and taken to a local shelter where they did all they could for me. When us birds get even small scratches from animals other than birds, it becomes a very serious situation very quickly, due to the foreign bacteria. When it became clear that I was only getting worse, they called in the Mickaboo forces. Though I think Mickaboo and the nice people at the vets office are starting to catch on, Ive been a really brave little guy through all of this horror, trying not to act sick. But thats just what us birds do, seeing as how its always the sick or injured birds preyed upon first in the wild. Thats why its so vitally important to get your bird medical attention at the very first sign of illness because chances are weve been sick for a while and hiding it. Thats just one of the lessons to be learned from my story. The other is to keep your birds wings clipped; if that had been done with me, this entire situation would have been avoidedand I wouldnt be doing my absolute darndest to hang onto my precious little life. Right now, I could really use some healthy thoughts, full of strength and hope, sent my way. Update: My foster mom should have known better. She's a lover of us lovebirds and already had a lovebird when I came into the picture. I knew the minute I got through the door that I was never leaving---it took her a little longer to realize that I wasn't going anywhere, but now we're one big happy family.
