UPDATE: Little Minnie succumbed to kidney disease on 9/7/07 and Mickey to a brain embolism on 10/7/07. Both were in a wonderful, loving foster home for the last days of their lives. Hello there! We are Mickey, 10, and Minnie, 20, a strongly bonded pair of cockatiels. Poor Mickey is very, very ill, with liver disease in all likelihood, from a poor, primarily all seed diet most of his life. Our mom meant well, but didn't know any better until about year ago at which point she began feeding us much more healthy foods. By then, though, much damage had been done to my guy. I, Minnie, am struggling with kidney disease. We have been staying at this very exclusive bird hotel called the avian vet. Have you heard of it? It?s a place where sick birds can go to get really good care. We've been here for quite some time now and are struggling to get better. Though we're doing our best to hang on right now it's kind of touch and go . . .so to speak. We are very bonded, so being together, albeit in an incubator, is quite cozy and comforting indeed. There is a rumor going around that if we pull through, and get strong enough, that there might be a new home for us. Is that home with you by any chance?
