9/20/2077: Serge died today from a fatal reaction to anethesia while undergoing a crop biopsy to try to isolate the reason he continues to be so sick. We are all devastated by his death. He was very loved. To see a video taken of him earlier this year, please click here. I have had a tough time, but at least now I have the tender care of Mickaboo. I?m Serge, one of the Telegraph Hill cherry-headed conures. I was found in very bad shape with a skull fracture and other injuries, emaciated, and unable to balance. For a year and a half, I grew stronger and worked on my coordination. Even though I am a wild bird, I have demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability. I have even learned to say "chicken" and "good bird" when I want attention. Sadly, I was recently diagnosed with PDD (proventricular dilatation disease), a communicable, usually fatal, disease. Still, Mickaboo continues to care for me and give me the best life possible. Could I ask for one more thing? Please support not only Mickaboo, who cares for those of us likely to be abandoned by others, but the researchers who are trying to find a treatment and cure for this killer disease. Print this page |
