UPDATE 2/15/06: "Pancho is now out of quarantine and enjoys being in the midst of all of the other birds. He loves it when visitors come and give him attention and will count to 5 for them and tell them "I've got a flower" and loves to say "good-bye, see ya later". He also likes to say "good morning" when I uncover his cage and once when I offered him a new food he said "no thank you". He's a very picky eater and hasn't accepted any pellets yet, but has started eating scrambled eggs, grapes and pistachios. As long as he gets to be out on a playstand that he isn't able to get down from, he doesn?t become aggressive. He would do well in a home with a lot of activity and where he is allowed to be out for long periods of time." Hola, I'm Pancho, a 17-year-old male, double yellow-head Amazon. I'm a big handsome guy who likes to give kisses, and I think the girls at the SPCA were having trouble resisting me so they called Mickaboo to find a foster home for me. I'm settling in quite nicely there. I love being misted, and I will turn upside down and spread out my beautiful wings with a look of pure ecstasy. I'm not quite ready to give up my seed yet, but I'm finding all the new foods I'm being offered pretty interesting to look at. It's been said that I have a 100-word vocabulary, but for now, I don't want to say anything incriminating so I'm holding my beak. My foster mom says I need firm boundaries, because I like to sneak down from my cage and do a little exploring -- she has a particularly tasty dresser that I've enjoyed sculpting (it looks much better now!). Most of the time, I'm very gentle, but sometimes, when I'm not in the mood for company, I can be very aggressive -- that's why my family gave me up. So if you've got some big bird experience and can handle a little attitude from time to time, we might make great exploration partners.
