Up on a rooftop, what should appear but a big long-tailed bird who has proven a dear ... not a reindeer, but a sweet scarlet macaw. That is my story in a nutshell. I'm Karma and I was found perched on a roof in San Francisco before Thanksgiving. I am very thankful that I was found by a man who took me in, not as a turkey stand-in, but to care for. He only had a dog crate for my home, but he let me explore his small apartment. Now I'm with Mickaboo waiting for my next holiday gift, my permanent home. My band shows that I am still practically a baby, hatched in 2004, and I show no signs of mistreatment. I have no fear of hands or people in general. Of course, as a big bird, I am a handful and need an experienced owner or one willing to learn about the challenges of living with a macaw. In return, I can light up your life more than any holiday ornament. Story posted on: December 9, 2005 Print this page |
