Species: Cockatiel

Sub-Species: Pied
Adopted on 2023-05-21
Hi, we`re Saffron and Lynn, a pair of bonded male cockatiels. Saffron is believed to be in his mid-teens, and Lynn is probably a bit younger. Both of us originally came in to Mickaboo as strays, and found each other while in foster care. We`ve been adopted twice, and both times we thought we`d have our forever home, only for life to get in the way. We returned to Mickaboo in early 2022 after our human became ill, so now we`re searching for a new home once again.

Neither of us are afraid of humans, but we`re both hesitant about stepping up, which we think sounds pretty scary. Neither of us like hands, but Saffron has been known to step onto the back of a hand if you`re patient.

Saffron likes to fly and is very curious, and he`ll get into trouble unless you`re careful. I love landing on heads, so be aware you`re my favorite landing pad! Lynn on the other hand is way chattier, and likes being near (but not on) humans. Both of us eat avi-cakes and some greens, but Lynn`s the one who`s a real veggie fiend.

If you think we might be a good fit for your home, please let the Cockatiel coordinator know!
In nature, cockatiels live in large flocks. A single bird in a cage spends much of his/her life being lonely because humans have things they must do that take them away. We therefore will only adopt a single cockatiel to a household if there is already at least one cockatiel living there. Otherwise, cockatiels must be adopted in groups of two or more.
